Eventually we'll get our weather station up and running and sending data to the web as it's supposed to. Perhaps that can be a summer project.
To investigate the data found at one particular weather station, try the Lancaster University Environmental Science site which includes all the information from their HAZELRIGG station. This includes weather summaries and data on temperature, rainfall and sunshine. The MET OFFICE have some worksheets on data collection and weather instruments.
For microclimates in woodland, try KAY's 'AS' PAGE. Kay's page is one of the better sites for your 'A' level wanderings.
For daily weather data for Cambridge, for this year and years in the past back to 1995: you can look at any day you want to during the period covered, go to the RESEARCH SITE here. Thanks to 'Over2You' in the Telegraph for the tip.
Try also the WEST CHESTER COLLEGE site, which won a BECTa award in 1999.
There are also several online lessons and LESSON PLANS at this site too. This is well worth a visit if you missed one of my lessons recently on meteorology or you want a refresher prior to starting your revision. Recommended.
The September 2002 issue of Geography Review had an excellent exercise on climate data using data by Tim Burt and Ben Horton from Durham University. The data is from Slapton Ley, which has a field centre where I went on my undergraduate fieldtrip around 20 years ago and had a rather good time - the beer in the Tower pub is to be recommended.
The exercise uses data which can be obtained from HERE.
