Changes in employment structure as a result of what ?
See the new CAR INDUSTRY page for more information on this industry.
Here's an example.
Sony opened factory in S. Wales to make TVs due to various locational advantages. 2 plants at Bridgend and Pencoed make cathode ray TV sets, and the demand for flat screen televisions has reduced demand for CRT sets. Flat screen TVs now account for around half of UK market by value. Sony's portable music player has also failed to challenge the domination of the i-Pod. Another factor has been the drop in prices for flat screen TVs: prices have come down faster than Sony anticipated. In January 2005, a threat of 300 job losses was announced.
