The next Olympic games will be held in Beijing in 2008

The road to Beijing. An image of the Ring Road in Beijing taken by Alex Murchie, less than a mile from the Olympic Stadium. This shows the pollution in the air - the Chinese government is trying to reduce pollution in time for the games. Second image shows the new stadium.

The area is undergoing (as with a large part of the country) a complete re-development and an astonishing rate of change.

A lot of detail on the Environmental Olympics

Also details on the 5 mascots...

There was a good article in The Guardian in August 2007 about the views that people living in the city had on the forthcoming games.

A very useful section - the BBC also has a CHINA section, as do several other newspapers.

Plenty of Beijing voices. BBC's HAVE YOUR SAY

NEW FOR 2008

Calls to boycott the Olympics because of various human rights issues in China.

The various sponsors have been mentioned.

Check out the comments on the BBC's HAVE YOUR SAY section.
