What should you do a BLOG about ?

Well, quite literally the world is your oyster. Except of course it isn't...

Here are some topics that may prompt you to make the first foray into web publishing.

Here were some ideas that were in the original proposal to the RGS:

• Filling the car with petrol – globalisation / oil pollution
• A trip to the supermarket – organic / GM food / flowers grown in LEDCs (or is it ELDCs)
• Watching ‘Eastenders’ – portrayal of urban areas / recognition of aerial image
• Going on holiday – tourism / effect of aircraft on atmosphere
• Putting the bin out - recycling
• Buying and reading a newspaper – lots of geographical content
• Giving money to charity – role of organisations such as RSPB
• Weather forecasts – press coverage of hot weather / accuracy of forecasts.

A recent posting by Chris Durbin on SLN Forum (November 2004) led me to THIS PAGE, which suggests a whole range of areas where blogs might usefully be used in education.

From there were links to other BLOGS, and this is one of the joys of the Internet: this is what is meant by 'surfing': visiting a site, and seeing  a link to something that looks intriguing, so moving on from there to see whether it's of interest. The site above then links in to lots of other locations.
