COOL GEOGRAPHY
Corrie Ghrunda, Isle of Skye - picture by Mister P.
COOL in what sense ? In terms of ICE and COLD WEATHER
AIMS
To bring together some of the themes which have been covered and explore areas which have not otherwise been covered.
To add a bit of decent physical geography: GLACIATION ! - to the Key Stage 3 SoW.
To explore aspects of living in Cold Environments (following on from earlier topics..) - problems of living in Polar climate.
To allow us to show some good videos at the end of term! - Wild Weather, Surviving Extremes
To look at winter tourism: Skiing
The SKI-CLUB of Great Britain recently introduced an environmental CODE for skiers.
First of all: a look at ICE.
ANTARCTICA: see the relevant page of GeographyPages.
Remember that glacier ice starts off as SNOW. It has to survive through the summer and still be there the following winter, so that the next year's snow can fall on top and compact it.
