Chapter 1 : Computers and Society

Need to be clear on how COMPUTERS have changed various aspects of our SOCIETY. There are numerous areas where this can be described, along with examples to make them into CASE STUDIES, for example:

EDUCATION

BANKING

RETAILING

HEALTHCARE

CRIME

Chapter 2 : Computer Hardware and Software

Need to consider INPUT DEVICES, OUTPUT DEVICES, STORAGE and PROCESSES

I would also recommend that you purchase a USB or FLASH drive from Mr. Fawcett, or another source to use as backup. This is vital for your coursework in particular.

And one year on, how many of you have proper backups ?

Chapter 5: Databases

Chapter 6: Communications

Chapter 7: Presentation

Chapter 8: Spreadsheet Modelling and Simulations

Useful for your coursework.

Chapter 9: Data Logging and Control

Examples of where computers are provided with data inputs, and how this can then be used to send instructions to actuators and motors to produce an element of control. Consider, for example, what happens when you drive up to a barrier at a multi storey car park.

Chapter 10: Systems Analysis and Coursework

This will be a useful chapter to refer to as you put together your coursework projects.
