A 'blog' is shorthand for 'weblog'. Web logging is a relatively new Internet phenomenon, which allows people to put up their thoughts on a private or public section of the internet: an easy way to get a web presence. It is referred to on the BLOGGER site as offering 'Instant Communication Power'.
