There are a number of different suppliers of GPS handsets. I am talking about the hand held receivers here, rather than in-car systems or PDAs with GPS, although both of these are certainly useful.

I ordered my GPS in late October 2005. I used a firm called GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEMS based in North Yorkshire.
The website offers the chance of guaranteed next day delivery. There is also free online order tracking, so that you can see where your parcel is. I ordered mine late on a Driday (after the deadline for next day delivery), so went with the free delivery option.
The machine I ordered was a GARMIN eTREX VENTURE. It arrived on Monday morning as the rain teemed down outside.

There are almost 8000 geocaches in the UK, and over a quarter of a million in the worldwide.
GEOCACHING is a growing sport, which gets quite a few articles written on it in various magazines from time to time.
The idea is a nice one. Essentially a cache is a box of 'treasure'. The box is hidden so as to be unlikely to be found except by those who know where it is, and who are guided to it by details on a website, and also the GPS to get them close.
GEOCACHING.COM is the major resource for this activity, and I will be trying this and posting about it shortly..
