QUICK GUIDE TO USING THE WEATHER STATION

You will need to be in B2, using the computer next to the right hand window, which is connected to the data logger sealed in the wooden box screwed to the window ledge.

Log on as usual. Look for the icon: ‘Weather Station’, and a little cloud picture on the desktop. Double click and the screen will open as in Screenshot 1

Click on ‘Monitor Weather’ on the top bar

The data which has been recorded since the station was last used will be downloaded to the computer. This will be visible on the left hand side of the bottom bar (the words Weather View 32 seen on Screenshot 1 will be replaced with ‘downloading x number of bytes’

Once this has finished, the message ‘processing logged records’ will appear (it is these logged records which can then be graphed)

The screen shown in Screenshot 2 will then appear. This is default screen #1, by using the display and tools options, a number of other screens and information can be obtained. This is updated as you watch. Screenshot 2 shows the weather at 1.30pm on Wednesday the 20th of June.

When finished with that, click on ‘Disconnect’ on the top bar.

Now click on ‘Graph Data’ on the top bar. This will open a new screen where you can choose the sensor you want to graph and then choose the date you want the details for. The last month or so has fairly complete coverage (the connection is apparently a little temperamental and there are odd times when the station signal is not received properly)

Click on ‘Create Graph’ and a graph of the data on temperature, wind, humidity etc can be seen and printed out. I have attached a few examples:

Temperature figures for the 20th of June up to the time I accessed them: note that it was up to 21ºC by lunchtime yesterday..

Relative humidity data showing the damp conditions during the night and early evening.

Rainfall figures over last weekend: we all remember that it was wet, but the data shows several particular periods of rainfall: the flat line is when it was dry. For example, there were 3.5mm between 5pm and 6.45pm on Saturday, and the rain cleared by 11.30 on Sunday.

Hope this is of use.
