THE TOUR DE FRANCE RESOURCES
2007

The Tour de France is the greatest sporting event in the world, in terms of spectator numbers. It's also my favourite sporting event. You can keep your football ! The Tour alternates between clockwise and anti-clockwise routes, taking in the neighbouring countries - this year (2007) it'll be London's turn, with a prologue in London, and a first stage which runs through Kent.
Worth exploring the variety of landscapes through which the tour passes. This varies from the flatlands to the Alps and the Pyrenees.
Could also use the PROFILES of each route that are provided for the route on the official website.
There was an excellent GOOGLE EARTH network link produced last year.
Received an excellent FREE pack from Transport for London in May 2007.
It's a CURRICULUM FOCUS on CYCLING pack.
Has a sturdy folder and some imaginative ideas on using cycling as a curriculum focus (natch)
Also a set of postcards and CD ROM with resources on it, and relates to the School Travel Plan idea. Going to use it for KS3 (or perhaps for a KS2 Transition project)

There's an excellent site to support Le Grand Depart at the Tour de France London site.

This also has an Interactive Map where you can follow the route of the first stage and prologue.
Also got a good CYCLING MONTHLY magazine special edition.
