Here is the idea....
If you go to the FLIP FLOP FLYIN site you can see the excellent MINIPOPS produced by Craig Robinson. They are little images of people, bands, film stars, historical figures and sportsmen (and others too.) A book was released around Christmas 2004, and should still be available from all the usual retailers. There are several sites where you can obtain these images, but the original is certainly the best, and more are added regularly.
Above is the book cover. As you can see, the idea is that these are mini pixelated versions of people. They are mini works of art, and feature in many a quiz on the Internet. They are instantly recognisable in most cases, and if they aren't it's because you aren't familiar with the original people - they somehow capture the spirit of the original perfectly.
I came across this site during 2004 thanks to a 6th form ICT student (thanks!), and it got me to thinking about a Geographical version of the same idea which could act as an idea for CREATIVITY. It would be a nice STARTER activity, or a brief ICT interlude, and also possibly as a REVISION activity. A non-ICT version could be done with squared paper.

The spreadsheet contains a grid of 10 x 10 squares.
Each square can be turned from white to 1 of 10 colours by entering a number from 0-9, and then pressing the return key or moving around the grid using the cursor keys. This allows you to create a small pixelated image of something Geographical.
Once you've finished, add your name, any contact details you want to include (feel free to include none or either of the above) and the title you want to give it. Then e-mail it to me at geoblogs@europe.com
