Lots of news stories relating to immigration, particularly the large numbers of arrivals.
There has also been the appointment of Ruth Kelly as Communities Secretary, who wants a "new, honest debate" about multiculturalism and immigration.
Heatwave earlier in the year apparently set to put 4p on the price of a loaf. This is due to wheat crops wilting in the July heat, plus increasing energy costs.
Also speculation relating to the possibility of high tides in September and October creating potential flooding on North Sea coasts.
Hurricane Ernesto heading for the USA, one year on from Hurricane Katrina.
SEPTEMBER
Useful items on Global Warming have continued in 'The Independent': particularly the cover of this issue.
