THE STORM OF OCTOBER 27TH 2002

The BBC have a series of questions. Go HERE for a starting point into the other stories.

It includes a PICTURE GALLERY, and a round up of the EFFECT ON  BUSINESSES which deals with the implications for insurers.

My house and garden were damaged, and there was an 8 hour power cut, but we got off lightly compared with some people. There were a lot of stories in the news relating to the time that it took people to be reconnected. Some people were still off a week later, and were also a little concerned that 24-7 and other companies were suggesting that as the storm was an 'act of God' there would be no claims for compensation due to the length of time that people were waiting to be reconnected.

There is some data on the effects in the area on various news archives.
