Put a map up of the area to the SW of Castleton and invite people to come up and circle a disused mine with a pen: you'll be there for some time.

LESSON RESOURCES

We use a video from the United Kingdom series called 'Quarry Queen' which shows a quarry owned by Doreen Earl and the battle with her neighbours.

The quarries involved are called Bridge Quarry, Sycamore Quarry and Marksend Quarry,  at Kerridge, which is on the border between Cheshire and the Derbyshire Peak District.

Also check out the VIRTUAL QUARRY - this won't work correctly at school, but will do at home I'm sure. Interactive elements to this.
