SNOWDONIA

New for August 2004

I visited Snowdonia in August 2004, and below are some of the images from the triumphant return of the Boiled Onions to action on the slopes of Moel Siabod (2861 feet high...) - also recently revisited via Google Earth.

Snowdonia National Park Authority is looking into ways of reducing traffic in the National Park - as with many national parks in the UK this is one of the main problems facing the park.

A controversial (to some people) policy called the Green Key has been consulted on for some time now. Read more about it HERE. This site also features a chance to get the QUESTIONNAIRE that is used. The consultation has apparently now re-opened (thanks to Sion Caffell for updating me (and the link) and if you want to get your views heard you have (had) until the 15th of December 2005)

In the pub I went into (purely for research purposes you understand): the 'Bryn Tyrch' had a poster outlining the possible effects of implementing the policy. One of the original proposals was a compulsory park-and-ride scheme, but there are some proposals to restrict car parking at certain areas.

Below are some images taken on the walk up Moel Siabod.

Mister P pauses for breath on the way up...

The ridge to the summit of Moel Siabod. Easy peasy!

The view from the summit ridge of Moel Siabod. Impressive. Note the rain clouds on the way.

A closer view of Snowdon taken later.

Feel free to use, but let me have a credit.

A rather excellent site is SNOWDON SUMMIT, which links through to information about the proposals for replacing the aging Snowdon summit cafe.
