WEEK 1: RESEARCH TASK
Whatever your interest, there's a website out there to cater for it..
Some of these interests are rather unsavoury and you need to steer clear of these...
Over the next 6 weeks you are going to put together a basic website using FRONT PAGE.
Before starting you need to think of a topic for your website and do some thinking - all the best websites are designed on paper before even switching on the computer. There also needs to be plenty of content, and this needs to be added to regularly. This is what keeps people returning to GeographyPages - over 200 000 page hits per month...
So, what's your interest ? It could be a SUBJECT area, a BAND, a SPORTING team, a HOBBY...
The aim for today is to
| 1. Choose a topic which you think you are going to produce a website on, and write it in the space below: |
| 2. Do some research, and discover 10 sites on the Internet which already exist which are related to your chosen TOPIC. Copy the URL (address) from the address bar into the space below: |

| 3. Look back at these sites and pick out several features of these sites which you would like to have on your own website. |

BLANK FRONT PAGE sheet. Sketch out a possible design for your HOME
PAGE. The HOME PAGE is the first page that the WEB BROWSER will open when
someone types in the address of a site. Try to decide on the layout. Choose a COLOUR, FONT and how you are going to NAVIGATE, or get from one page to another. Are you going to have BUTTONS to press ? This page will have to be called INDEX.HTML eventually... |

If finished, start making a list of the CONTENT that you would expect to find in a site about your chosen topic. Go back to the 10 sites you found earlier and see what they have to offer....
